High-performance transhipment station
With 21,000 loading units handled every year, the transhipment station in Augsburg-Oberhausen works to the limits of its capacity. In the future, the GVZ transhipment terminal will bring together rail and road freight carriers.
There will be two construction stages leading to a relief of the current container terminal. Phase A (2013/14) will see two loading tracks with mobile cranes for 700 meters of block trains be put into operation. Phase B expands the terminal by two additional loading tracks with a gantry crane.
The terminal investment association TIA is a co-operation between the local partners Augsburg local railway and Nuber forwarding along with the Deutschen Umschlagsgesellschaft Schiene-Straße mbH (DUSS) – with the objective of constructing and operating the terminal (planned commissioning 2013/14).
